Where can we find a big collection of solid wooden furniture on display in Southern California? We are looking for furniture (contemporary style and similar) to furnish our new house. We looked at Broyhill, especially the “Perspectives” collection but can’t find it anywhere on display to check the actual quality. Are there other high quality brands you can recommend that are somewhere on display? We found that even the best brands have low-end items in there collections and we want to avoid buying those in looking at the quality in person first. Is there any big warehouse somewhere in Southern California? I heard that Levitz went out of business. We can check places out all the way between Santa Barbara and West Los Angeles.

[display_name id=”2″]The best way to get quality wooden furniture is to go to an unfinished furniture store. Look around: even if you don’t finish it yourself, they can finish it for you and it still will be far less money and far better quality than what you would buy in a store. Broyhill, you pay for the name not the product.

We bought new living room set (not wood, just sofa and chairs) a while ago and it was one of the best furniture stores in our area. But, most of the wood furniture was particle board with veneer (i.e. CRAP).

Most all of our furniture is from unfinished store, and most is oak or walnut and all we finished ourselves and it looks great. And we saved a bundle and got solid hardwood, not garbage.
I don’t know what types of such stores are in California, try a google search, or better yet, a Bing or Yahoo search.

Why: Google now lists products and businesses not by the quality of the site or service, but by how much advertising money the stores bid for (including product listings), I have found that their search results are crap. Bing is better right now. If you use Google, scroll to second or third page to make sure you are seeing the broadest selection, not the people who pay most to get their lists.

That’s you see Overstock on so many Google searches, or the same product description on virtually all of the first page. Google may say their searches are based on “quality” but that is bull: it’s based on how much sellers bid to get there. So, looking at first page tells you NOTHING except those people spent the most to be there.

How long would shipping take…?From Yamaha’s Chicago warehouse to Los Angeles? See, I bought a digital piano from a music store in Los Angeles, they were sold out, so they told me that I could order it, and they’ll have one shipping from one of Yamaha’s warehouses in Chicago. Has anyone else ever done this? How long does it take?
The model is a YDP-161. It just came out, I haven’t personally tried the 161, but I have tried out the 160 which is the DP it replaced. My god, it sounds really amazing, and the GH effect makes the keys feel like a real acoustic.
